§ 04 — BrotherhoodUkhuwwah · Rujūlah

A spotter in every time zone.

Sabr & Steel is a circle of men who train early and hold each other to it. Not a forum. Not a feed. A quiet room — and a standard of prophetic rujūlah.

33:23
Sūrat al-Aḥzāb

مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ رِجَالٌ صَدَقُوا مَا عَاهَدُوا اللَّهَ عَلَيْهِ

“Among the believers are men who have been true to what they pledged to Allah.” That is the standard we hold each other to: men of their word.

The believers, in their love, mercy and compassion for one another, are like one body: when one part aches, the whole body responds with sleeplessness and fever.

§ Prophetic Rujūlah

Manhood, the prophetic way.

Rujūlah is the Arabic word for manliness — not bravado, but the qualities the Qur’an and Sunnah praise in men: keeping your word, mastering yourself, being strong and trustworthy, and never letting the world pull you from the remembrance of Allah. It is the standard the brotherhood is built on.

I. صَدَقُوا

True to his word

“Among the believers are men who have been true to what they pledged to Allah.”

Al-Aḥzāb 33:23
II. الْقَوِيُّ الْأَمِينُ

Strong and trustworthy

“The best one you can hire is the strong, the trustworthy” — said of Mūsā (peace be upon him).

Al-Qaṣaṣ 28:26
III. يَمْلِكُ نَفْسَهُ

Master of himself

“The strong man is not the one who overpowers others; the strong man is the one who controls himself when angry.”

Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 6114 · Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2609
IV. لَا تُلْهِيهِمْ

Undistracted

“Men whom neither trade nor sale distracts from the remembrance of Allah.”

Shura شورى

Our membership is being built on the principle the Qur’an praises in the believers — that their affairs are settled “by consultation among themselves” (Ash-Shūrā 42:38). A committed circle of brothers: accountable to one another, consulted on what we build next, and serving the community together.
